We are engaged

"In education, student engagement refers to the degree of attention, curiosity, interest, optimism, and passion that students show when they are learning or being taught, which extends to the level of motivation they have to learn and progress in their education." (The Glossary of Education Reform 2018)

At Wookey School we place great importance on fostering these attitudes in all our children. It is well known that these attitudes are most commonly seen in children in the Early Years, and as such we have developed our curriculum around the principles of Early Years Education to ensure that these attitudes are not lost as our children get older.

Friday afternoon is independent learning time. Mechanics, electronics, gardening and learning a new game with friends are favourites in UKS2.

This is Chestnut Class running their own debate on the reasons that Stonehenge might have been built.

We engaged with our local community by donating food to the Wells Food Bank. We have also raised money for the charity 'Young Minds'.
