Wookey School is very fortunate to have a committed and supportive group of governors. It is a testimony to the school that parents and members of the community are prepared to give their time freely and willingly as they believe the school does give each and every child the opportunity to learn and grow.
For the 2018/19 academic year the Governing Body took the decision to abolish our committee structure and increase the number of Full Governors Meetings to 10 over the year. This has increased the impact that the Governing Body has had on strategic school development.
If you would like to speak to one of our Governors please contact Mr Marsh, Mrs Bartlett or speak directly to one of our parent governors, who can be found in the playground most days.
Our Governors Are:
Janet Reeves (Chair)
Pam Price (Vice-Chair)
Sarah Ham (Staff Governor)
Emma Bartlett (Clerk)
Chair of Governors (as of September 2018)
Co-opted Governor since September 2007
Responsibilities: Chair of Governors, EW/SEN Governor
Committee Membership: Head Teacher Appraisal
I taught for 34 years as a Key Stage 2 Teacher in Scotland and Germany and after moving to England taught for seven years in Camberley in an EBD provision and also as SENCO in a large mainstream school, before settling in Wells 20 years ago, becoming Head’s Relief at Coxley School. To end my career, I was a Supply Teacher at Wookey School, where it has been a privilege to be part of the school community ever since. I come into school on a Thursday, to work with the children of Chestnut Class. When not in school, my interests centre on grand-children, gardening, WI, singing in a choir, Tai Chi, Book Group and anything else that takes my fancy in retirement.
I have been a Local Authority nominated governor at Wookey school for many years serving as Chair and Vice Chair during that time. I have lived in Wookey for over 40 years and have always been keen to support the local community and for a time was a District councillor and Leader of Mendip District. My career was in HR mostly at Clarks Shoes and I try and use this experience in the school. Currently I am involved in the NHS as the Vice Chairman of Musgrove park hospital and as a Non Executive director on the Somerset Partnership Board. It's a pleasure to be involved in Wookey school hopefully giving children opportunities to learn and grow."
I am a parent Governor and have two boys who attend Wookey Primary School. My background is in Estates Management and Health and Safety which I find a useful asset as a Governor. I enjoy gardening, sewing and martial arts in my spare time.
