We have been busy redesigning our curriculum over the past two years. We launched this in September in our classes and are now ready to begin sharing our plans and outcomes. Below are the first examples; we will be sharing all subjects from the wider curriculum in the coming weeks. We are continuously reviewing and adapting our plans as part of our ongoing subject leadership and monitoring process. 

In the Foundation Stage we follow the specific curriculum that is set for this age group. Our EYFS curriculum is shaped around our pupils' interests.

From Year 1, in line with guidelines set by the Department for Education, we follow the National Curriculum. To facilitate mixed age teaching, we use the milestones in the Essentials Curriculum produced by Chris Quigley, a link to which can be found below. Within these frameworks, our teaching and learning is driven by our core values.

Phonics is taught in the early years using the Twinkl phonics scheme, which has been validated by the DfE. You can also find guides as to how we teach reading and writing in all of our classes below.

Our Calculation Policy (below) explains the methods and language we use to teach the four mathematical operations at Wookey, from Reception through to Year 6. We hope that you will find it useful when approaching maths with your children. We have also shared with parents a pack of ideas to integrate the learning of maths into everyday activities and games. Copies of this can be provided via the school office.

Teachers use our curriculum overview to plan collaboratively for the long and medium term. Termly plans are shared with parents via our Seesaw learning journals.
