Parents Evenings

Thank you to everyone who came to their parent teacher meeting this week. It has been lovely to hear such positive feedback from the teachers about the meetings that took place.

After School Arrangements

As there is no longer space to park on the old garage site on Wells Road we will no longer be accompanying children to the postbox, as we have been doing. We will ensure these children cross the road safely and keep an eye on them as they begin their journey, but once they cross the road they will be unaccompanied.

School Chickens

If you are able to help out with the school chickens over the weekend please sign up on Scopay. As always, you are welcome to keep any fresh eggs that you find!

Red Nose Day 2023

It is Red Nose Day on Friday 17th March this year. The children are welcome to wear red clothes to school in exchange for a donation of a minimum of £1 for Comic Relief.

Rowan Class Update

I am pleased to inform parents that Mrs Salma will be returning to work following her parental leave after the May half-term break. She has visited us a few times recently to get up to speed with everything that has been happening in her absence so that she is ready to hit the ground running on her return!

Moving forward, Mrs Salma will be teaching Rowan Class on Mondays, Tuesdays and up to lunchtime on Wednesdays, when Mrs Fisher will be taking over for the rest of the week (after the children have a short session with me on a Wednesday afternoon).

With Mrs Fisher continuing in Rowan Class I am pleased to confirm that Gemma will be continuing in her role at playgroup after the Easter break.

As we near the end of Mrs Salma's parental leave I want to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Fisher and Mrs Tanna for the brilliant job they have done with Rowan Class.

School Lunches

You will have received copies of the menus from our new lunch provider today. These menus will start after the Easter break. I hope you are as impressed with them as I am.

You will notice that, as well as improved main courses on offer, the puddings have also been upgraded, with an alternative of yoghurt and fruit available every day. Details of when the bookings will be available on Scopay will come very soon, but in the meantime I want to raise two points with you as parents.

The first point is about jacket potatoes. I feel strongly that we should be offering a main meal at lunchtime and I get the impression that jacket potatoes were only being selected if there were no main meals that you felt your children would like.

You will see that we have removed the jacket potato option from the menu for after Easter. I want to give this a try, with the hope that all the children will get the benefit of a full main meal, rather than just a jacket potato. If this doesn't work, we can put the jacket potato option back in after half a term.

The second point I wanted to raise is the 'sandwich option', which I also get the impression is only being taken currently if families do not like the main meals offered on a specific day. I would really like to see if we can avoid having to go down this route, so we will review after half a term.

I don't want to come across as a 'budget Jamie Oliver', but I think we can use this opportunity to really make a difference to the lunches that we offer.
