"Together we Learn and Grow"

21st October 2022

Half Term News

Next week is a busy one at school, even though we are on half-term break. We are having new radiators and a heat pump fitted in our main building to replace our old oil boiler system, just in time for the colder weather! This is just phase one of an exciting decarbonisation plan, which will also involve new windows, doors and solar panels on the main building.

There will be some disruption to school over the next few weeks, but it is going to be worth it, and we are very excited about becoming the first school in Somerset to benefit from this scheme.

School Photos - Reminder

Tulip Photography will be in school on the first day back after half-term to take individual and sibling photos.

Year 6 Parents - Reminder

The closing date for applying for a secondary school place next September (2023), is 31st October 2022. To apply, click here.

Attendance

I am pleased to report that attendance for the first half-term stands at 95.5% across the school, which is higher than the national average. Thankfully we have been relatively unaffected by COVID-19 since we started back in September, although we are starting to see a few cases reappearing now. The current guidance we have been issued with is that children with a positive COVID-19 test result should try to stay home for three days after they took their test - we will be asking for parents to follow these guidelines if the situation requires.

Cake Sale

Thank you for supporting the WSA cake sale after school yesterday. It was lovely to see, and taste, the cakes that were donated and to see so many parents in attendance.

Non School Uniform Day

The children have really engaged with the spooky theme of our non school uniform today to raise funds for the WSA. Thank you for your support.

Wells Cathedral News

GAIA has landed at Wells Cathedral!  And we’re delighted to be offering some exciting activities for families over the October break.

Come and see Luke Jerram’s touring artwork – a 7-metre model of the earth as it looks from space! You can pick up a free Earth Explorer Trail leaflet which takes you on a tour of the Cathedral whilst picking up tips on how to become a Steward of the Earth.

Book onto a felting workshop where children can make their own mini-Gaia as a beautiful souvenir of their visit.  Available to book here

For further information, visit https://www.wellscathedral.org.uk/cathedral-events/gaia/

Eggs for Breakfast?

Do you like fresh eggs for breakfast? If so then our hens can provide you with plenty if you sign up on Scopay to pop in to school to feed and water the chickens. We are really proud of our chickens, and they are a big part of school life. Any help over half-term will be gratefully received. Many thanks.
