Friday 1st March 2024

We have had a very sporty week this week at Wookey Primary School. Chestnut Class took part in a Tag Rugby Festival at Millfield School on Tuesday. The day was run by SASP (Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership) and involved a number of local schools. The children took part in skills-based sessions in the morning and then in the afternoon they had a tournament against the other schools. Well done to the team for showing great school spirit and for performing very well in their matches.

This was followed at the end of Tuesday by the latest race in the Mendip Cross Country League. As you can see from the photo below, the children had a very enjoyable time, and they looked great in their new running tops!

Parent-Teacher Consultations

You should have received information through Seesaw regarding how to book your next parent-teacher consultation. These are taking place during the week beginning March 11th. If you have a problem booking, please speak to your child's class teacher.

We also have our next parent drop in session coming up on Monday 4th March. If you have any questions or queries about any aspect of school life please pop in and ask us then.

World Book Day 2024

World Book Day is taking place on Thursday 7th March this year.

We are going to continue our trend from recent years of asking the children (and yourselves) to be a bit creative for our dressing up theme for the day.

We would love to see the children come to school not dressed as a character from a book but instead as a type of word. For 2024 we would like to see them dressed as an adjective.

On the day itself we will be doing lots of activities linked to 'The Word Collector' by Peter Reynolds, so I would recommend that your child has a look at it before the day if it is in your collection at home.

Farm club is back!

Come and spend time looking after the animals at Wookey Farm on Mondays after school.

We have an added bonus of baby goats in March.

Booking is essential, so please do this through Wookey Farm Website

Wookey Farm Staff will walk children to the farm from school at 3:20. Pick up is at 4.45pm from the farm.

Any questions please contact Sarah on 07779 145441

Orchard Vets in Glastonbury are having an open day on Saturday 16th March. This will be a lovely opportunity for children who are interested in a career in the veterinary sector or those with pets who are interested in what happens at the vets.

Along with a dog show there will be open access to the practice with equipment demonstrations, careers information, a scavenger trail and a 'have a go at bandaging' station. Our Vets and Nurses will also be on hand to answer any career or pet related questions.

A message regarding pupil absences

This is a polite reminder that, if your child is unwell and will not be attending school, please contact the school office to confirm this. A message sent to a class teacher via Seesaw will not be seen straight away, as the teachers will be busy preparing for the school day.

If you wish to apply for term time leave for your child, please complete a term time leave request form, a copy of which can be found here.
