Thursday 11th July 2024

I want to start this week's newsletter by thanking everyone who came along to our sports day last week. We were so lucky with the weather and, thanks to Mrs Tanna's brilliant organisational skills, it was the best organised event of this type that I can remember!

It was lovely to see so many of you cheering on the children during the afternoon, and I am sure you will agree that the children were amazing in the way that they demonstrated our school values.

I hear that the parent races were enjoyable and accident free too, but I must admit I had to look away when I saw how fast some of the grown-ups were running!

WookeyFest2024 was also a huge success recently. Thank you to Mrs Salma for organising this event. If you would like to see some pictures, then please check out this article, which was published on the Wells Nub News Website.

Reminders

Tomorrow (Friday 12th July) is a non-school uniform day. Pupils can come to school in non-school uniform in return for a donation of a bottle (full!) for the WSA Bottle Tombola in the Summer Fête.

We had lots of lovely Teddies donated to us today, also for the summer fête. If you have any more unwanted teddies, then we would be happy to accept them tomorrow too.

The Summer Fête itself is almost upon us! We hope to see you there on Saturday from 2pm.

School Attendance

As a school last week, we had an attendance of 91.7%. This is a significant drop from the previous week and well below the national average. Class attendance levels were:

  • Rowan Class 86.4%
  • Oak Class 95.6%
  • Willow Class 90.4%
  • Chestnut Class 98.3%

Well done to Chestnut, as they had the highest attendance level for the second week in a row. A total of 74 children had 100% attendance for that week, which is slightly down on the previous week.

As I am sure you are aware, high levels of attendance support the best possible progress in school, so thank you for ensuring that your children attend school regularly and often.

A Reminder About School Lunches

Please be aware that, if no meals are booked for your child by lunchtime on a Wednesday, then we will be expecting them to be sent in with packed lunches for the following week.

Meals can now be booked up until the end of the summer term.  All booked lunches will need to be paid for in advance if your child is not in receipt of Free School Meals or Universal Free School Meals.

A message regarding pupil absences

This is a polite reminder that, if your child is unwell and will not be attending school, please contact the school office to confirm this. A message sent to a class teacher via Seesaw will not be seen straight away, as the teachers will be busy preparing for the school day.

If you wish to apply for term time leave for your child, please complete a term time leave request form, a copy of which can be found here.
