Vision, Ethos and Values

Wookey Primary School's vision is rooted in engagement, independence, respect and resilience.

Wookey Primary School: Together we learn and grow

Our Vision

It is our view that success as a school is achieved only through engagement of all stakeholders: children, staff, parents and governors.

Our vision is to develop resilient, confident and emotionally intelligent children who demonstrate a love for learning that enables them to be active citizens who achieve all they want to in life.

We want our children to thrive academically, mentally and physically in a nurturing environment.

Our Ethos

Our Values

We will achieve our vision through a focus on our core values of engagement, independence, respect and resilience.

Our school curriculum has our values at the centre of it. Our values are woven throughout teaching, planning and communication.

British Values

Alongside and complementing our school values, sit the nationally-agreed British values. The Department for Education defines British values as having 5 different elements:

We use our weekly PSHE assemblies and our classroom discussions to teach and embed these values across subjects and experiences. Our children are also taught about protected characteristics and how to treat everyone with respect, no matter their differences, or similarity to each other. We give the children as many practical experiences as we can to help them put these values into practice and into context, as well as choosing curriculum and assembly books which represent the values, protected characteristics and stories from beyond their usual sphere of experience to trigger debate and encourage the children to consider and question.
